Children of the Corn

Sunday, September 9th: So back in September we had a BBQ with Dave's Uncle Winston's family. It was fun and way yummy! So Tim, Melissa, Dave and I and the kids decided to take some funny pictures in their corn field! I thought I had some pictures of Melissa and Tim too but I was taking their pictures with their camera, so as soon as I get some I will post theirs too. We are a crazy, silly family and we love it! Enjoy!

The year for MOVIES!

The beginning of this year, 2007. Our family decided we would buy one movie a month for the kids. Our movie library started off very scarce and since then we have accumulated 12 new movies! We decided to buy movies for November and December now so we wouldn't have to worry about it during the Hollidays, but who says the movies have to stop here?

Here is the list of the movies that the we now have in our Children's DVD Library:

Flushed Away
Ice Age
Ice Age The Meltdown
Charlotte's Web
The Night at the Museum
Garfield: A tail of two Kitties
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Barnyard
Herbie Fully Loaded
The Little Mermaid
Barbie as The Island Princess
The Polar Express

My mom's twin!

So anyway, I was on KSL.com like I always am, under the classifieds in the dog section. I love dogs, I love them almost as much as I love kids! So I find myself just browsing the ads for dogs to see all the cute dogs out there....and then it happened, I found an ad with a picture of my mom's twin! I couldn't believe my eyes! They had the same deep set eyes, the same nose and mouth! The hair was a little different but other than that...TWINS! I showed Dave the picture of this lady holding up two puppies that she was selling, and I asked him what he thought of the picture. He said two different things:
1. Why is she wearing a wig?
2. Doesn't she have enough dogs?

Ha ha! Who is she? I laughed when I told Dave that was NOT my mom, and he was in disbelief! He had to be! But NO it wasn't!

So here is the picture and I tried finding a picture with my mom posing the same way but I couldn't find any, my mom looks a tad bit older that the mystery twin, but tell me what you think! (If they had the same make over, I bet no one could tell the difference between them!)

Dreaded Dentist?

9-6-07: Today Vanessa and I went to the dentist, it being Vanessa's first visit! Of course, Vanessa had no problems being there and she was actually excited to be going. She watched me get x-rays on my mouth to see if I had any cavities, and then they did x-rays on Vanessa and I was able to watch. After that they took Vanessa into the room next to me so they could clean her teeth with "strawberry" as she got to watch "Spongebob" on T.V. She did very well and I was really proud of her! The dentist told her she had NO cavities and they gave her a Princess toothbrush! I was really excited she did so well! Yeah Vanessa!

New Stuff

So we bought a new highchair for Ashton, after the legs of our plastic one decided to give on us one day. I've always wanted the cherry Eddie Bauer highchair, since Dave and I have developed a taste for everything cherry in our home, or at least one day! We also bought the Rainforest jumperoo for Ashton to enjoy, and he sure loves spending time in it! Now I can do a few more things around the house while he stays entertained and life isn't so boring.

My little 6 month-er!

Today we dropped off Vanessa at the meeting spot for her to go to her field trip with her school to Wheeler farm. Chandler and I were sad to not be going but we coincidentally had a 6 month appointment already set up for Ashton. Chandler cried and cried and cried when he realized he wasn't going on the field trip! Poor thing.

At the wellness visit for Ashton, we found out that he now weighs 15 lbs. 10 oz., I thought he was for sure 16 lbs or more, but he's getting really close! Even though he looks chunky he is still below average on weight. His height is 25 1/2 inches long too. He cried when he got his shots, but not as bad as he did at his 4 month appointment.
Ashton can almost sit up without help!!!! He is doing really good at everything he does! He is now eating baby food: rice cereal, sweet potatoes, peas, and squash so far! His favorite are the sweet potatoes. He will not let you eat in front of him unless you are feeding him his foods too!

We are so lucky to have Ashton in our lives, we really love each one of our children. I just absolutely love watching them grow and I like sitting back and waiting to see what they will do next! I love kids!!!!!!!

NOT the berries!

Today my kids decided to pick berries from the next door neighbor's yard while I was mowing the lawn. I noticed they were up to something and went over to see what they were doing, they had eaten some berries! I didn't know if it was poisonous or not but I knew from experience when I was a little girl, I ate some mushrooms in the yard and my mom gave my syrup of Ipecac to induce vomiting so I could rid myself of any poisons! There is also confliction on whether or not to induce vomiting. So I had to call the Poison Control Center (1-800-222-1222) to find out if my kid's would be okay! We then found out that they ate berries from a Pacific Yew which is poisonous only if they eat a handful of them and it's the seed in the berry that is actually poisonous. If you were to only swallow the seed and not chew it up you might have a chance of skipping out on the poisons. The guy who was helping me at the poison control center also sent me to a website that lists poisonous plants. I recommend to all my friends and family to post the telephone number of the Poison Control Center on their fridge and educate themselves on the potential harmful plants that are out there and teach their children about it so we can keep away from situations like mine experienced today! Vanessa and Chandler are okay since they didn't eat the seed of the berries instead they ate the red part and they had only one each, the guy who helped us followed up with us an hour later to make sure they didn't have any symptoms that could come from being poisoned: vomit and diarrhea. It's a scary thing to think that they are so close to something harmful but I am just glad that everything is okay!
